Romney literally stays silent when asked about climate change. This is really awkward…

Is there a more perfect distillation of the American electorate than this clip?

Man yells “what about climate change?”

Man is drowned out by chants of “USA! USA!”

I mean, yeah, sure… why deal with reasonable debate, knowledgable candidates, legitimate differences in the way we might approach these problems… nah, let’s just wave our fucking flags higher and higher.

This might be one of the grossest videos to recently come out and it’s really emblematic of American arrogance. The fault lies with our leaders, corporations, and the mainstream media for the overwhelming denial of global warming prevalent within our country but it’s pretty disgusting to hear chants of “USA!” silence a legitimate and incredibly important challenge (although it was an interruption) to Romney’s denial of a scientific reality while those in the developing world, who contributed very little to the problem, are feeling the brunt of the effects of global warming and stand to lose the most because of our industrialized mass consumption.

all I can think about is the second debate, when Romney basically said “Look at how high gas prices are under Obama. He could just lower prices but he just doesn’t. More coal, more gas, and more oil solves all the problems. ALL the problems.” when Obama actually, y’know, mentioned renewable energy and energy of the future so that we don’t ruin the Earth and run out of resources and saddle the next generation with the cost of cheaper energy now.
